In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is often an effective treatment in infertility when other methods of achieving conception have failed. The process involves extracting eggs from the woman’s ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them under controlled laboratory conditions. The resulting embryo(s) is then transferred to the patient’s uterus with the intent to establish successful pregnancy. IVF success varies widely depending on the woman’s age, the cause of the couple’s infertility and pregnancy history.
