We all know how effective a pregnancy and/or postpartum massage improves flexibility, prevents injury and enhances overall well being. Additional benefits of massage is to combine stretching to help with particular pain or injury problems. Enhancing flexibility and strength to both joints and soft tissue will restore balance, improve range of motion and increase circulation of blood and nutrients that will repair injured and overworked soft tissue.
Other benefits of active isolated stretching during a massage session can speed up the healing process, prevent adhesive scar tissue buildup as well as break down adhesions that may have already formed - all great benefits for pre and postpartum pregnancy.
When booking your next massage - ask your therapist to incorporate stretching into the session. A recommended session would be a minimum of a 30-45 minute massage and 20-30 minute stretching. We encourage you to participate in stretching both in and out of the massage treatment room.
